Senior Data Engineer

Perrine’s story

Perrine has had a passion for the web ever since she was at lycée. Her career path began with a DUT in Software Engineering, where she learned the basics of software development and design. In her 2nd year, she joined a composite materials analysis laboratory and, with a colleague, developed a CRM using the company’s manual databases.

After her Bac+2, Perrine went on to do a Masters in MIAGE (Computer Methods Applied to Business Management), specialising in the design of management software. This first placement aroused her interest in data, and she went on to do a PhD in data engineering and web knowledge management. At the same time, she taught various disciplines (programming, databases, data processing, data engineering, project management) to students of all levels at the University of Dijon and then Tours.

With her doctorate in hand, Perrine joined a statistical mapping company, improving the user experience by creating virtual assistants for processing customer data. 3 years later, keen to deepen her knowledge of data, she joined an ESN, where she trained in Talend in order to manage larger volumes of data.

The university contacted Perrine again and offered her the job of Research Engineer, where she would develop a data aggregation platform for researchers in the Centre-Val de Loire region. She facilitates the publication and indexing of research work, while supervising a team of 11 people. She takes part in numerous conferences, enriching her knowledge of data engineering.

After a 3-year fixed-term contract, Perrine returned to her former ESN, working on Big Data for a client in the insurance sector. In 2022, following the advice of an Apside colleague, she joined Apside Tours as a senior data engineer, working with one of our customers in the insurance sector.

Why did she choose Apside?

Perrine: « For me, joining Apside was an opportunity to finally be considered in an ESN, both in terms of my skills and aptitudes in terms of technologies and assignments, as well as in terms of support and career development. »

In her squad, Perrine works with business analysts and product owners, as well as with technical management, the production and design centres of expertise, and her tribe leader, who supervises all the squads. She takes an active part in scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily scrum meetings, sprint reviews and retrospectives. Tasks are allocated according to the skills and availability of the members of the squad. In addition, a weekly Coding Dojo enables collaborative work on technical subjects such as design, documentation, peer-programming, etc.

In addition to these main responsibilities, Perrine is involved in the technical community by taking part in a number of trade fairs. In particular, she will be giving a talk at the Lille 2024 DevFest alongside Ewan, highlighting the importance of the relationship between a team and its customer.
